Patriots, Chiefs Set To Kick Off NFL Season

The NFL season gets underway when the Kansas City Chiefs visit the New England Patriots tonight in Foxboro.  New England beat the Falcons in Super Bowl 51 for the franchise's fifth championship.  They look to become the first team to win back-to-back Super Bowls since they previously did it after the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

Alex Smith is back as the Chiefs starting quarterback, with his top weapons on the outside in tight end Travis Kelce and wide receiver Tyreek Hill.  Rookie running back Kareem Hunt is the starter after Spencer Ware suffered an injury during the preseason that could potentially keep him out for most of the season.

The teams last met in the Divisional Round of the 2015 playoffs with the Pats coming away with a 27-20 victory at Gillette Stadium.

Kickoff tonight is at 8:30 p.m. Eastern.
