Brian France, the CEO of Chairman of NASCAR, was arrested for driving under the influence after being pulled over by police in New York on Sunday night. According to TMZ Sports, France was pulled over after he ran a stop sign in Sag Harbor just after 7:30 p.m.

Police said that France failed a field sobriety test and had a blood alcohol level of .16, twice the legal limit of .08. During his interaction with police, France allegedly started name-dropping people, including President Donald Trump, in an attempt to get out trouble.

When they arrested him, they found oxycodone pills on his person. He was taken to a local jail and booked on charges of DUI and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree. He was released on Monday morning following his arraignment.

NASCAR announced that "Brian France has taken an indefinite leave of absence from NASCAR as chairman and chief executive officer. Effective immediately, NASCAR Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President Jim France has assumed the role of interim chairman and chief executive officer.”
