New Netflix Documentary Will Delve Into The Mind Of Aaron Hernandez

Netflix released a trailer for a new three-part documentary about the life of former New England Patriots wide receiver Aaron Hernandez, who killed himself in prison while serving a life sentence for murder.

Hernandez was an up-and-coming star on the Patriots when he was accused of killing Odin Lloyd, who was dating his sister. He was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. While he was on trial for Lloyd's murder, he was also indicted for killing two people in 2012. He was acquitted on those charges but took his own life in his prison cell a few days later.

The new documentary, titled Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez, will include never-before-seen footage from the courtroom, along with interviews with those who were closest to him. The documentary examines what led Hernandez, who was in the middle of a five-year, $40 million deal with the Patriots, to murder Lloyd.

The trailer highlights his troubled upbringing and features a phone call in which he blames his mother for how he turned out.

"I was the happiest little kid in the world, and you f***ed me up," Hernandez told her. "I had nobody. What'd you think I was going to do? Become a perfect angel?"

The documentary will premiere on Netflix on Wednesday, January 15.
